Physical Education & School Sport
BSB recognises that individual students bring differing abilities, levels of confidence and qualities to their PE lessons and they learn in a variety of ways. PE is an integral part of learning and the curriculum. Our PE programme caters for all students where we aim to provide a very high standard of learning during all lessons. Key competencies such as participating, contributing and cooperation, partnered with values such as respect, diversity and equity are key elements of our learning and teaching in the PE department.
AIMS
Physical Education at BSB offers all children opportunities:
- To become confident, skilful and intelligent performers
- To acquire and develop skills, performing with increasing competence and confidence, in a range of physical activities and contexts
- To learn how to select and apply skills, tactics and compositional ideas to suit activities that need different approaches and ways of thinking
- To develop their ideas creatively
- To set targets for themselves and compete against others, individually and as part of a team
- To understand what it takes to persevere, succeed and acknowledge others' success
- To respond to a variety of challenges in a range of physical contexts and environments
- To take the initiative, lead activities, and focus on improving aspects of their own performance

OBJECTIVES AND THE OUTLINE FOR THE YEAR

All students at BSB partake in the Physical Education programme which offers a range of activities in a variety of settings and facilities within our campus:
- Games Activities - striking and fielding, net and wall, invasion games
- Gymnastics Activities

- Athletic Activities
- Health Related Fitness
- Outdoor & Adventurous Activities
INTER HOUSE COMPETITIONS
All students belong to one of four Houses at BSB: Arges, Danube, Mures or Olt. House Competitions help to promote a positive attitude towards an active and healthy lifestyle. These competitions enable students to learn new games, as well as practice and refine their skills during PE lessons. Each student then gets to participate in the exciting, challenging and highly anticipated House Competitions which are held each term and have become an integral part of our school calendar. The current House Competition activities that are run by the PE department are Rugby End-ball, Football, Hockey, Basketball and the highly anticipated Sports Day. Who will take the House Shield away this year - Arges, Danube, Mures or Olt?
INTER SCHOOL COMPETITIONS
In recent years, BSB has started an engage in more Inter School Competitions against other international schools within the Bucharest region. The sporting activities that we currently take part in across the Key Stages are Football, Basketball and Mini Olympics.
