Pupils in Key Stage Two continue to study the subjects of the National Curriculum. There is a focus on structured learning so that the pupils can develop independent working skills while sustaining an enjoyment for learning.
The Core Subjects of English and Mathematics receive priority and are taught each day. Special focus is given to the other cores subjects of ICT and Science. Pupils are also taught History, Geography, Art, Design Technology, Music and Physical Education according to schemes of work used in the National Curriculum for England and Wales. Pupils also learn a modern Foreign Language and the school offers native speaking lessons in Romanian, German, French and Greek with an option for additional English support. The citizenship curriculum provides children with the opportunity to understand their role in the world.
Assessment on pupils' learning occurs regularly throughout Key Stage Two. At the end of Key Stage Two (year 6), pupils complete the Standardised Assessment Test (SATs) in English, Mathematics and Science. These tasks are assessed by external examiners in the UK.
Optional SATs are performed in Year Three, Four and Five at the end of each academic year.
These tasks are assessed by class teachers. End of year reports completed by the form teacher describe progress throughout the year in all subjects. Optional tests for years 3,4 & 5 and SAT examination tests for year 6 in May each year are held for English and Mathematics.
