As ICT underpins today' s modern lifestyle it is essential that all students gain the confidence and ability, that they need in this subject, to prepare them for the challenge of a rapidly developing and changing technological world.
At BSB this is achieved for both Primary and Secondary School by the daily use of the well-equipped ICT suites, which have laptops for cross curricular use, by the use of the interactive whiteboards and a wealth of educational software and internet based learning, which is centrally controlled to filter out inappropriate websites.
All students are taught ICT as a discreet lesson as well as its cross curricular use. Students are taught in mixed ability groups where an emphasis is placed on differentiated individualised learning opportunities. They, where appropriate, are given access to a range of exciting software ranging from Microsoft Office, and industry standard software such as Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks.
Interactive whiteboards have been installed in every classroom at BSB. They help to create a multimedia learning environment by stimulating optical, auditory and cognitive processes, to create an effective learning environment for students.
The Secondary ICT department has created and designed a system whereby students are able to access work from home via a secure login to our website, our first step in the Virtual Learning Environment or VLe.
